Now that we have moved out of lockdown and things are opening up, we’ve had a few more calls from people asking for advice about coming back to Fabb.
In relation to Fabb services the road map states:
"Services for disabled children provided under section 17 of the Children Act 1989 typically include short breaks for parent carers. The local authority remains under a duty to provide these in appropriate circumstances. The Government recognises that this is likely to prove challenging during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, but is asking local authorities to ensure every effort is made to continue to provide this kind of important support for families who need it, wherever possible."
We are planning how to get back to business.
For those who are needing a break we have been funded by government to provide 'Timeout at the Treehouse", our family and carers breaks.
Our approach is:
· Prepare the building - we have upgraded our youth centre with new mattresses, dining chairs and tables, sofas, self catering facilities, sanitisation station.
· Prepare the staff - new job remits and training, Clean Care is Safer Care (World Health organisation) and HSE courses, PPE.
· Communicate – new website, new online booking, profile and contact forms.
Not only does our Youth Centre have a different name - The Treehouse, it is going to feel different when you come back.
We will prepare guidance for families and a checklist of what to expect from us and what we will need from you.
We have rearranged our programme. We ask, even if you have booked before to rebook as dates and themes have changed.
Families will have their own views on the risks of returning, but it is important that we share the steps we have taken to minimise risk. We have carried out a risk assessment looking at our physical spaces, staff working patterns, and travel to and from work to minimise risks of catching the virus.
We will be adding questions to our individual profiles and creating a contact form to enable us to identify individual risk to young people.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch with any queries.
